Starting Jan. 3, 2023, Recovery Inn will be moving away from the skilled nursing facility model and switching to an extended recovery model. It ultimately means that patients will be discharged from Recovery Inn within 23 hours of their surgery.
The landscape of total joint replacement surgery has evolved, and we’ve had to adapt. As insurance stipulations and approvals have changed, our physicians at OSI have found ways to advance their surgical procedures and recovery protocols so multiple-day stays are not often necessary. Our expertise means that most patients are able to safely return home after a short stay at Recovery Inn.
Those patients who are not ready to go home after their extended stay – whether that’s determined by a physician or whether it’s based on the patient’s own readiness – will be discharged to an alternative care facility. We’ve partnered with many in the area that we have determined to provide compassionate care, comparable to what is experienced at Recovery Inn.
Though the duration of Recovery Inn stays will be shorter, we will maintain a high standard of care. Patients can still expect a hotel-inspired experience that includes healing suites with comfortable motorized beds, private baths, floor-to-ceiling windows, refrigerators, and even Netflix.
