Peri-operative Informatics Nurse

The Orthopedic & Sports Institute Ambulatory Surgery Center is seeking a full-time exempt Peri-Operative Informatics Nurse at our Appleton location.  This role is responsible for advancing the operations efficiency of clinical data, information, and knowledge in perioperative nursing practice and administration.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement clinical data requirements for peri-operative patients as they relate to organizational policies, procedures, business operations, national quality and safety initiatives, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and social and environmental impacts.
  • Coordinate the advancement of the peri-operative clinical information technology system and tools to satisfy the above data requirements.
  • Use results of evaluation analyses to determine the impact of the peri-operative information technology plan on the perioperative RN, customers, families, organizational resources, networks, and the organization.
  • Act as a liaison between nursing and member of the internal and external perioperative information technology design and clinical documentation teams.
  • Analyze order requirement and design, clinical documentation needs, user interface design, and database aggregation needs with content vendors to customize content to produce organizational specifics order sets, clinical documentation sets, decision support tools and reports.
  • Address documentation and organization barriers that prevent full integration of safe patient – centered care and quality patient outcomes in the perioperative setting
  • Assume a leadership role in organization-wide information technology
  • Participate in current workflow mapping and future workflow development, application design and development, content issues resolution and implementation, and ongoing support of the perioperative information system.
  • Contribute to development of policies and procedures related to physician order sets and perioperative clinical documentation.
  • Educate perioperative personnel or other clinician across the health care system about the implementation plan of the perioperative information systems and relevant information issues (e.g., data security, Health Level Seven (KL7) Standards, meaningful use (MU), quality, and safety reporting requirements)
  • Train new team members and work collaboratively with designated super users

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited school
  • Current registered nurse license in Wisconsin
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum of 3 years peri-operative experience
  • Minimum of two-year information system support, including participation in implementation of a major information system/tool
  • Computer proficiency in Epic system and Microsoft applications
  • Ability to translate business and patient requirements into complex computer applications
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written skills, including communication skills that promote interpersonal relations, customer service and teamwork.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) /Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – Appleton

The Orthopedic & Sports Institute (OSI) is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for Valley Orthopedic Clinic  a busy orthopedic practice. The successful candidate will provide general patient care.  This position will be based out of our Appleton campus and is a 1.0 FTE position.  The candidate must be able to work 8 weekends per year (Saturday & Sunday 10 am – 2 pm) and work until 7:00 pm twice a month.

Surgical Technologist

The Surgical Technologist, under the guidance of the staff registered nurse, is responsible for the care and safety of patients who come under his/her care. The surgical tech is responsible for ensuring effective communications between him/herself, the circulating nurse, the patient, other staff, and physicians. By anticipating the needs of the surgeon, the surgical tech provides assistance while maintaining an aseptic and safe surgical environment. We have a couple openings depending upon the desired FTE.  The FTE is  a .1 FTE.  (One shift every two weeks) The shifts vary with the hours ranging from 6:30 am – 6:30 pm.  No weekends, holidays, or call.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – Standby

The Orthopedic & Sports Institute has an opening for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the Ambulatory Surgery Center. The CNA is responsible for the care and safety of patients who come under his/her care. The CNA will assist in the care of Surgery Center patients as requested under the direct supervision of the professional staff. Performs ancillary duties in the Surgery Center that include but not limited to patient observation and discharge, and patient transportation. Assists in front office responsibilities including answering phones and medical filing. This is a standby position with the possible hours of Monday – Thursday4:30 pm –  6:00 pm; Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provides optimum assurance of a safe surgical environment
  • Checks preoperative and PACU areas, materials and equipment for appropriate patient care
  • Coordinates inventory with Clinical Coordinator to maintain high standards and quality in the materials used and stocking of inventory
  • Performs patient care activities in preoperative and PACU areas to include vital sign monitoring, provision of nourishment, discontinuing peripheral intravenous catheters, assisting patients with clothing, bathroom needs and general ambulation and removing IVs
  • Cleaning bays/carts after patient discharge

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school graduate or equivalent and completion of CNA certificate program required
  • Previous experience in surgery center or physician’s office preferred
  • CPR certification required

The successful candidate will provide general patient care.  This position will be based out of our Appleton campus however will require travel to our satellite clinic in Ripon Thursday.    This is a .6 FTE position.

Operating Room Circulating RN –  PRN

This individual is responsible for the safety of the patient while in the surgical suite and assists with the supervision of team in the area. Through assessment of the individual patient and procedure, he/she anticipates the needs of the surgical team and provides such services while maintaining an aseptic and safe environment. The RN promotes restoration of health and the achievement of patient health goals through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the delivery of patient care as defined by ambulatory care nursing philosophy and the mission of the practice. This is a PRN position.  No weekends.

  • Minimum 1 year RN experience required and 2 years of Ortho/Neuro preferred
  • Must be currently licensed to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin and familiar with the basic nursing performance standards as outlined in the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Certified in BLS with ACLS certification required

The Recovery Inn, located on the campus of the Orthopedic & Sports Institute, is a unique facility offering highly specialized rehabilitation services to those recovering from joint replacement or repair surgery.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the care and safety of patients. The RN is also responsible for ensuring effective communication among him/herself, the certified nursing assistant, the patient and their families, other staff, and physicians. The RN promotes restoration of health and the achievement of patient health goals through assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and delegation in the delivery of patient care. The RN must be perceptive, with good judgment and decision-making/problem-solving skills, and must be able to understand and implement the plan of care. The RN must show courtesy and respect to other employees, patients, family members, and visitors while providing excellent customer service.

We are currently seeking a PRN Registered Nurse to assist with vacation hours and additional staffing needs, must be available to work a variety of shifts.

The Recovery Inn, located on the campus of the Orthopedic & Sports Institute, is a unique facility offering highly specialized rehabilitation services to those recovering from joint replacement or repair surgery.

The Certified Nursing Assistant is a vital member of the patient care team. In accordance with the patient/family plan of care, the Certified Nursing Assistant, under the direction of the Registered Nurse, collects patient information and provides direct patient care that contributes significantly to achievement of patient and family outcomes. As a member of the direct care team, the CNA is responsible and accountable for complete and accurate data collection and recording, completion of routine and delegated direct care activities, and communicating and collaborating with the RN to prioritize workload so that patient care outcomes are achieved. The CNA must show courtesy and respect to other employees, patients, family members, and visitors while providing excellent customer service. We currently have a variety of shifts available, part-time and full-time.
