About Kevin Campbell, M.D.

Dr. Campbell is a board-certified, fellowship-trained hip and knee replacement specialist who joined OSI in 2020. His focus is on the treatment of hip and knee arthritis, and his expertise is in minimally-invasive anterior hip replacement, robotic knee replacement, and outpatient joint replacement. He enjoys working with his patients to create treatment plans that help them regain a pain-free, active lifestyle.

As a surgeon who is invigorated by research and innovation, Dr. Campbell has published more than 30 peer-reviewed journal articles in the field of orthopedics. He also founded a healthcare technology company that coaches patients before and after surgery with daily text messages and helpful videos. Joint replacement patients using his program have been shown to take fewer narcotic medications after surgery, have fewer emergency room visits after surgery, have a faster return of joint motion, and have higher satisfaction scores. For this work, he was named “Innovator of the Year” by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and was featured in the 2019 Chicago Sun-Times spotlight series titled “The Hardest Working Voices in Healthcare.”

Dr. Campbell was born and raised in Door County. He attended college and medical school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During medical school, he spent an additional year performing orthopedic and engineering research at the world-renowned Steadman-Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colorado. Following medical school, Dr. Campbell completed residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago where he received awards for outstanding resident achievement. He then completed a year-long fellowship in hip and knee replacement at the prestigious University of Utah, the top program in the country for joint replacements. In his downtime, he enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, and dog and can often be found sailing, waterskiing, and kiteboarding around Northeast Wisconsin.

Dr Campbell, Chad and the rest of the team were very caring and understanding, answering my concerns leading up to and after my hip replacement surgery. I found the text messaging program to be extremely helpful guiding me in the pre and post-op process. This along with Dr Campbell’s skill as a surgeon made for a quicker recovery…Many thanks Dr. Campbell.

Dr. Kevin Campbell and his staff were outstanding. I had a hip replacement and I was so overwhelmed [at] how well it went. I was walking and doing steps 4 hours After surgery. I felt instant relief. My recovery went better than I could imagine. Another plus is he sends you text messages on a daily basis, encouraging you and helping you navigate through the process of recovery. Including daily exercises. His nurse Sara also was very helpful. I had a few questions and she responded quickly, and was always helpful and polite. I highly recommend Dr. Kevin Campbell for your orthopedic surgeries.

From my first appointment to after-surgery care, I’ve been extremely happy. Everyone was very professional & caring.

I had total knee replacement surgery on my left knee on 11/01/23 with Dr. Kevin Campbell from the Orthopedic Sports Institute of Appleton, WI. He and his care team have been exceptional with the before, during and after treatment by giving me multiple reminders throughout the day with his text messages. The texts begin a week before surgery and continue the next 8 weeks throughout your recovery. The messages offer you encouragement and make you feel confident knowing what others have been through and what they’re feeling. They also remind you to ice and elevate your operative leg, to complete various home exercises and what you should or shouldn’t be doing at various stages of your recovery. My recovery has been amazing and I’m walking around comfortably without the grinding and crunching sounds I experienced before surgery. I’m excited to know I’ll be resuming all prior activities again pain free.
