About David Ritzow, M.D.
Since beginning his practice in 1998 at Valley Orthopedic Clinic, Dr. David Ritzow has dedicated his career to advancing orthopedic care in Northeast Wisconsin. As one of the founding physicians of the Orthopedic & Sports Institute of the Fox Valley (OSI), he played a pivotal role in establishing the organization in 2006 with the goal of providing exceptional care to patients throughout the region.
Dr. Ritzow is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds an Orthopedic Sports Medicine Subspecialty Certificate, underscoring his advanced expertise in treating sports-related injuries and conditions. His practice encompasses a broad range of orthopedic procedures including anterior hip replacement, total knee replacement, arthroscopic surgery of the lower and upper extremities, treatment of hand and wrist conditions, as well as complete fracture care. He offers both surgical and non-surgical treatment options as part of comprehensive orthopedic care for bones, joints, and soft tissue.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Ritzow serves as a clinical instructor for the Fox Valley Family Medicine Residency Program, helping train the next generation of physicians. He is also a physician for the Lawrence University athletic program, an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a member of the Wisconsin Medical Society. Throughout his career, Dr. Ritzow has supported local athletics and community health initiatives. He worked with the Appleton Area School District, served as a trained consultant for the Community First Fox Cities Marathon, and contributed to OSI’s Medical Mentoring Program.
Outside of his medical career, Dr. Ritzow strives to live an active and balanced lifestyle. His greatest joys come from spending time with his family, staying physically active, and embracing the outdoors. Whether he’s running, biking, or hiking the Ice Age Trail, Dr. Ritzow finds energy and inspiration in movement and nature. He also enjoys gardening and tackling hands-on projects — including building a wooden boat. Lifelong learning is important to him, and he often spends time reading or exploring new places while traveling with his wife and family.
